Happy 2 Months!

At two months old Reese:

Weighs 11.3lbs

21 ½ inches long

Is also known as Reese cup (enunciate the E at the end)

Look at that scarf on that onezie! A girl has to keep her neck warm!

Here's a comparison from last month. She has changed so much! And gotten plumper!

Has outgrown all of her newborn clothes. What were pants a few weeks ago now look like capris!

Eats 3 ounces every two hours… and sometimes she has a little ½ ounce snack in between.

Has quiet bit of dark hair.

Fights sleep at nap time! Most of the time she has to have that ½ ounce snack in between feeding to help her go to sleep. I have been told that this is a complete no no, but when she is so sleepy and crying uncontrollably this is the only solution. Within seconds of the milk touching her lips she is sound asleep.

Most nights we feed her around 8 and lay her down and she gets herself to sleep. We paid a heavy price after she slept all night that one night…the next two nights she did not sleep at all! But since then she is back to getting up once around 3 and then getting up around 6 or 7. During the week when Adam leaves for work she gets in the bed with me and we go back to sleep for a while.

Still sleeps in the cradle beside our bed…and can until she moves to college.

Sleeps in this fleece sleeper, but this is starting to make me nervous. She moves around a lot during the night now and the fleece gets too close to her face for me. So she’ll probably have to get a new sleeping suit soon. And yes, those are stripped socks on her hands! Isn’t she so fashionable with those strips and polka dots on the sleeper?

Loves to ride! Anytime we put her in her car seat her eyes get heavy and before we are out of the driveway she is asleep. This makes for a good shopping buddy! It’s kind of strange though…if we get out of the car and go in to a store she never wakes up, but the instant we walk back in the house she is wide awake. I don’t understand how she knows we are home!

Loves to take a bath. When she is fighting sleep around 7 every night we fill her tub with warm water and she is so happy. Don’t all girls love a warm bath after a hard day? Tuesday night we filled the tub 2 different times and had to dump it out when she pooped in the tub:) I am sure it would embarrass her if she knew I was telling that but isn’t it my obligation as her mother to embarrass her?

Stares at the ceiling fan all the time.

Entertains herself on this play mat for short periods of time

Hates tummy time! She screams when I lay her on her stomach. This lead me worry about her ever learning to hold her head up on her own. So we have been working on strengthening those neck muscles sitting in the Bumbo seat.

Loves her paci (aka Mr. Binky…yes, we named the paci). Weeks ago Adam kept forcing the paci on her until she started liking it. Now she loves it! I am going to let her fight the battle of taking it away from her one day. If we try to give it to her when she doesn’t want it she will stick her tongue way out and gag…which makes us laugh!

And yes, she is wearing Christmas outfits before Thanksgiving...

And just a few random pics...

Don't you love these leg warmers! So cute!

On a side note… it has come to my attention that my BFF Steph thinks that I am not blogging enough…So all together now can we sing…All I want for Christmas is high speed at home....high speed at home!! Speaking of Steph we will be reunited next week when she’s home for Thanksgiving and there is no telling how many world problems will be solved over that lunch date. But seriously, CenturyLink… you are losing quiet a few dollars by not offering high speed in my area! Me and the two other people that live within this 15 mile radius WANT your services! What happen to catering to the needs of the customer?

Weekend Update

On Friday night we took Reese to Auburn for her first visit. As we drove into town Adam said as he inhaled deeply, "Do you smell that?" I, of course, thought he was talking about Reese's diaper... "Smell what?"..."Our youth!" He was speaking of our carefree college days down on the plains...Who would have ever thought that just a few years later we would be coming to meet our friends for dinner with our baby in tow! Driving through your college town with a baby seat strapped in the back will definitely make one feel older while carrying the huge weight of responsibility commonly referred to as parenthood! While living up the college life was fun it pales in comparison to hanging out with Reese on Friday nights.

To date, Wesley has seemed the most nervous about holding a new baby. He was stiff as a board! For the record, Wesley is studying to become a nurse anesthetist (AKA those who give epidurals among other pain medications during surgical procedures) and he confirmed that my epidural was not administered correctly considering it still hurts like all get out in my lower back!

And just because... she's so darn cute in this one.....Don't you think?

Reese does not like "tummy time" so to help her strengthen her neck muscles I have started letting her sit in her Bumbo seat and she really likes it! Even though MeeMaw sent me a dirty email telling me how she was going to break her neck! HAHA. So I sent this picture to MeeMaw and D.D. one night and within minutes MeeMaw was at our house....

...with this picture of PeePaw. She seemed to think that the resemble...And I would have to agree. I think it is something about the forehead...What do you think? Have we finally figured out who she looks like?

Something to blog about...

This blog post is concerning one topic...sleep! I am happy to report that Reese slept ALL night last night! She did not get up one time! After getting a bottle around 8 we put her in her craddle and she was wide eyed! She finally got herself to sleep and woke up at 6 this morning! And that my friends is something to blog about!

And just because I think they are cute here is a picture or two...

I just love this scared face she makes when her daddy kisses her!

Trying to be a Suzy Homemaker!

So I finally got the monogramming machine that I mentioned back in the summer to work! Please allow me to thank my friend LaRae for helping me with this matter! She already has the monogramming situation figured out and she so graciously helped me out! I am trying to talk her into us quitting our jobs and opening a business:) I know our husbands would love that. HAHA! So please don't judge...but this is my first masterpiece. Don't look too close or you'll see the imperfections. It is a birp cloth...
Since the machine is at MeeMaws we spent quiet a bit of time there working on this. Reese was determined not to be left out of the fun and insisted that hold her a lot on this particular day. Finally I strapped her on and she took a nap. This is sure to spoil, I know.

If you didn't get a chance to look at the website I posted a few weeks ago and see Reese's picture here they are. I love them! Of course she doesn't even look like this anymore:(

Confessions of a New Momma

Having a baby has caused me to do things that I would have probably made fun of other people for doing. I knew without a doubt that I would love her more than life itself, but I never knew it would make me do crazy things!

First of all, for Christmas this year I want Adam and I to give each other a new mattress. Why a new mattress you might ask. Well you see we have a queen size that has been suitable for the two of us for the last three years, but I can’t see how we will fit Reese in between us when she gets scared in a couple of years. Yes, I admit without reservation that she will be allowed to sleep with us when she has a bad dream, a bad day at daycare, or for no reason at all. I know this is against all advice of doctors, veteran parents etc…but this is just the lengths having a baby has caused me to go to.

At 6 weeks old I am still checking her breathing through the night. She is only getting up once a night now (knock on wood), but I am up way more times than that checking for air. Maybe when she goes to college I will stop checking on her at night, but I have my doubts about it happening them. And I guess while I am confessing I will admit this too….I insist on having a night light plugged in so that I can see her face during the night. I know, I know…I am CRAZY!

I absolutely cannot imagine her sleeping in a different room than ours. I dread the day that we decide that she needs to sleep in her crib! I am sure I will stare at the monitor and not sleep a wink when that horrific day is upon me! And for the record, I think Adam thinks she should already be in her crib. Yeah, but her momma doesn’t think so…and we all know the old saying…if momma ain’t happy ain’t nobody happy!

If you have seen me in town since her birth I apologize for my appearance. She always has on a cute outfit (or at least in my opinion), but I on the other hand am lucky if my hair has been brushed. Makeup has only touched my face a handful of times in the last six weeks. Honestly, it just takes too long and most of the time I don’t have the energy.

Poop and breast milk consume my thoughts and life. I never knew those two things could cause so much concern!

Ok, so my last confession (for now)…last Friday night Adam came home from work and wanted to go out to eat. I guess you would consider this our anniversary dinner. But he thought that Reese might stay behind…I thought about it for a little while and decided that it would be okay to leave her. Oh how wrong I was! We met D.D. in Lineville and she took Reese home with her. As we approached the designated meeting spot I could feel the anxiety (or whatever) begin to consume me. When she asked if I was okay with leaving her I feel apart…and continued to cry most of the way to Oxford. Adam tried to get me to just go somewhere in Lineville and pick food up and take it to D.D. and Big Daddy’s to eat, but I knew that would make me look even crazier! I had to leave her at some point, right? We were gone for a total of 3 hours and I thought about her every second. It will take divine intervention from the Lord for me to be able to go back to work in a couple of weeks!

If you don’t mind can we keep how crazy I am just between me and you?
And I'll leave you with a few pictures of the reason I am so crazy!

Trick or Treat...

Smell my feet...Give me something good to eat! Reese was a pink kitty cat this year. We only went to a few people's houses because it is a pain to get a baby in and out of a car seat while dressed as a kitty cat!

I love this picture! Her eyes still go crossed from time to time (for those of you with no child experience this is normal for a new baby until they get control of their eyes...I confirmed this with the pediatrician because I was concerned) and we think it is so funny!

She is starting to smile a lot more. If might still be gas, but I don't know.

Adam and I dressed up as the housewife and the milkman! HAHA! I am sure that it will embarass her in a few years when she sees that we dressed up with her!

I felt like it was Christmas morning today. I went to pick up Reese's newborn pictures and the photographer had a suprise for me....She had ordered a canvas print of Reese and when it came in it had a flaw on the canvas so she got another one sent to her and gave me this one!! I would point out the flaw, but you can hardly see it. I am so excited to get this hung in our living room. Really this made my whole week! This would have cost me somewhere around $300...so can you see why I am so excited??
